New Agency Announcement

We are excited to formally announce we are partnerin’ up with an awesome agency in Texas.  For those not familiar with this part of the story, our previous agency closed last year.  After networking a bit, our former social worker mentioned an agency for us to explore.  We hadn’t thought we would end up adopting from another state, but after learning more about this agency – we couldn’t hold back!  On the shopping list: Cowboy boots!

So we fly out later this week to attend an orientation conference with other couples joining this agency.  Then the action starts!  We should be “official” sometime over the next month or two.

We can’t wait to share this journey with you!

Beautiful Conception and a Tearful Loss

It is with heavy hearts that we announce a beautiful conception and a tearful loss.  After 9 years of marriage, we conceived a child 8 weeks ago.  This amazing blessing comes after being told we had next to no chance of ever conceiving.  The pregnancy was ectopic and we lost our child yesterday.

It’s times like these that we can’t imagine a life without a Good Good Father.  Some of you might remember the loss of our son Matthew (Blog Post Here).  It was through this incredible heartbreak we grew closer in our marriage and realized that love is never lost.  Then – soon after – we welcomed home our beautiful baby girl. (Blog Post Here).  We couldn’t imagine our lives without her.

With suffering comes Grace.  And we choose to embrace the hard times – rather than pretend everything is fine.  Christ is here to help us and heal.  The guide to our Catholic teaching provides comforting solace (CCC 2319) “Every human life, from the moment of conception until death, is sacred because the human person has been willed for its own sake in the image and likeness of the living and holy God.”  It is good to know our child was not a happy moment, but a human person willed by our living and holy God.

And we know our God!  We are already anticipating His triumphant blessings.

They say “everything is bigger in Texas” and we believe that means blessings too.   We found out the day we lost our child that we have been accepted to the agency we applied.  We open our lives to your will Lord – the good and the bad.  We greatly anticipate your smiling face and your warm and tender arms.

So,  let the adoption continue!  A fitting message from December of 2014:  (Blog Post)

Finalization Day!

Today is a very special day for our family.  Finalization day!

Our court appointment went great.  Everyone involved in the process was so sweet and excited for us.  She brought a ton of joy to the courtroom today.  The judge was very nice and even gave her a stuffed animal as a special gift for her adoption.  Of course, she thanked him for the gift with a sweet little hug.

We thank all of our family and friends for their prayers during this exciting journey.  What an amazing support system we have.  We couldn’t ask for better!  We especially want to thank her wonderful birth mother for choosing us as her parents.

It’s very special that our finalization day is during November which is national adoption month.
