Beautiful Conception and a Tearful Loss

It is with heavy hearts that we announce a beautiful conception and a tearful loss.  After 9 years of marriage, we conceived a child 8 weeks ago.  This amazing blessing comes after being told we had next to no chance of ever conceiving.  The pregnancy was ectopic and we lost our child yesterday.

It’s times like these that we can’t imagine a life without a Good Good Father.  Some of you might remember the loss of our son Matthew (Blog Post Here).  It was through this incredible heartbreak we grew closer in our marriage and realized that love is never lost.  Then – soon after – we welcomed home our beautiful baby girl. (Blog Post Here).  We couldn’t imagine our lives without her.

With suffering comes Grace.  And we choose to embrace the hard times – rather than pretend everything is fine.  Christ is here to help us and heal.  The guide to our Catholic teaching provides comforting solace (CCC 2319) “Every human life, from the moment of conception until death, is sacred because the human person has been willed for its own sake in the image and likeness of the living and holy God.”  It is good to know our child was not a happy moment, but a human person willed by our living and holy God.

And we know our God!  We are already anticipating His triumphant blessings.

They say “everything is bigger in Texas” and we believe that means blessings too.   We found out the day we lost our child that we have been accepted to the agency we applied.  We open our lives to your will Lord – the good and the bad.  We greatly anticipate your smiling face and your warm and tender arms.

So,  let the adoption continue!  A fitting message from December of 2014:  (Blog Post)

  1. These are such sweet and amazing words, very beautifully written and straight from the heart. The poem following the post could not be more touching; my eyes were not dry after the first words. The love for and confidence you have in God overflows. It feels obvious that He will shower you all with as much love as is possible to feel. I am so proud to be your family–the faith displayed by you guys is something that I admire more than just about anything.
I love you so much! Looking so so forward to the blindingly bright days of your near future!
